A local woman had huge success at the Irish Podcast Awards at the Morrison Hotel, Dublin recently.

Local podcast producer/presenter Céire O’Donoghue (Naas) was honoured to accept a ‘Highly Commended’ Family Podcast award, on behalf of the 300+ children and eight primary schools who have put her children’s podcast, KidCast, on the map.

She commented that: "It’s wonderful to have all our hard work and creativity recognised amongst the best of Irish podcasters!"placeholder image

Céire also won the overall ‘Rising Star’ award on the night, which she commented was "wholly unexpected, especially given the high calibre of shortlisted nominees.

"It has been a pleasure opening up a space for children’s voices to be expressed and heard and last week the importance and value of this was confirmed."

KidCast is a half hour show made by kids, for kids 5-12 years. Young voices present, report child friendly news, interview guests, challenge the listeners with games and entertain and educate its young and old audience.

Supported by the Arts Council and RTÉ Jr Radio, KidCast can be found on the RTÉ Player or wherever you get your podcasts.
