Man facing murder charge is before court for cannabis possession
A man facing a murder charge was separately prosecuted for a minor drug offence at Naas District Court.
Padraig Delaney, 44, whose address was given as 6 The Lane, Eustace Demesne, Naas, faces an allegation of the murder of 37 year old Shane Knott between April 3-14, at that address.
He appeared via video link in relation to possessing cannabis herb at his address on April 21, 2022. The value of the drug was estimated at €50.
The defendant told the court that he was told by a garda at the time that the issue would be dealt with by way of a caution.
The court heard that the defendant has no relevant previous convictions.
Judge Desmond Zaidan noted that he is facing a more serious charge.
The judge also said he would apply the Probation Act.
