Man hit on head with bottle needed 9 staples inserted in wound
Allegation
An assault victim had to have 9 staples inserted in a head found after being struck with a beer bottle.
A juvenile, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared before Naas District Court, charged with assault.
Sgt Brian Jacob told the court that the defendant went to a house looking for a lift at an address in Clane on December 17, 2022 at 8.45pm.
When this was refused he demanded the keys of the vehicle.
The sergeant added the injured party was hit on the head with a Budweiser bottle and he was also kicked and punched.
The defendant then ran from the house with another person.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said he would return the defendant for trial to Naas Circuit Court.
He also granted free legal aid to also provide for a barrister in the circuit court.
