Maynooth have too much for Confey in SHC

Maynooth took this UPMC SHC game at Cedral St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge by the scruff of the neck from the throw-in with Tom Power hitting a perfect cross to Oran Byrne who found Confey with just 37 seconds on the board.

Philip Quigley replied and the scores came quick and fast and by the tenth minute it was 1-4 to 0-3 before game no. 2 arrived, Tadhg Forde getting a flick to the sliothar and Maynooth now led 2-4 to 0-3.

Maynooth continued to dominate as the half progressed with Cian Forde, Conor O’Grady and Forde again all adding points.

Frank Bass got his second of the half, and Cathal Jennings raised three white flags for the boys in green but as half-time approached Martin Quigley got his side’s third goal as they led at the break: Maynooth 3-9 Confey 0-6.

It was more of the same in the second half and while Confey did score 1-10 in the half, the goal from Sean Maher; there was no stopping Maynooth as they added no less than 3-12 with goals coming from Martin Quigley, Conor O’Gray and Kevin Dunne as Maynooth out very comfortable winners on a final score line of Maynooth 6-21 Confey 1-16.
