“You are always nervous going into them (finals), bit of a slow start, tit for tat and they actually got in once or twice but we held our nerve. We kinda took over from there and then started the second half on fire. They had one or two put off so (the game) fizzled out a little bit and we took over and just saw it out. Happy enough with it,” the words of Milltown manager Darren O'Shea following his side being crowned Junior Football Champions.

Milltown were undoubtedly the better side in this game and their manager recognised that Roberstown had a huge task in containing the firing Milltown forwards.

He said, “They had a few lads up front that we had to tag but I didn't think they would contain any of our forwards, any of our lads could kick the ball over the bar. Brought on Calum Murphy there for a little bit of pace and he kicks one straight away. Things like that, keeping the scoreboard ticking over.”

Milltown's Kevin Byrne was given Man of the Match and his manager was full of praise for one of their star men in this final.

“Huge game in the middle of the field. Fielded well, took his goal very well and two points too. Ben Curran was another one in contention I’d say (for Man of the Match), he was fantastic when we were struggling to get going, the two boys were exceptional today.”

O'Shea has guided Milltown back to where they feel they belong and into the IFC for the 2024 season.
