The winner is a second level student in Naas

A St Mary’s College, Naas, student won a local competition organised by Naas Rotary Club as part of  the Young Writer Competition.

It's supported by Rotary International to encourage young writers. NRC invited entries  from  students aged 14-17 years .

The theme was Wonderful Water. Students are urged to become aware of their creative writing skills and this provides them with an opportunity to use their creativity and imagination to interpret the theme  as they wish.

The students  presented their work as non-fiction drawn from personal experience or allowed their imaginative skills to weave a tale of fiction. It was aimed primarily at Transition Year students and the winning entry was submitted by Eliseba Tomy Thomas.

Her poem entitled The Worth of Water was awarded first place for her “creative use of language and vivid imagery.” She also took second place in national competition.

Commendation prizes went  to Saoirse McConn and Erin McArdle, both from St Farnan’s Post Primary School, Prosperous.
