New bus stop requested for this Kildare area

The matter was raised at a recent Kildare County Council meeting
The provision of a brand-new bus stop has been sought for one County Kildare area.
The request was made by a local councillor in attendance at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, July 15 last.
During the early stages of this meeting, Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to ‘write to the National Transport Authority [NTA] requesting that a new bus stop be provided for the Curragh Farm region of Newbridge.
According to Cllr Pender, he wanted this stop installed so that it would allow buses to serve Curragh Farm and Páirc na Manach, in addition to ‘the surrounding residential area’.
His motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer.

Speaking further on the matter, Cllr Pender emphasised to KCC: “I think that the provision of a bus stop in this region would make transport more accessible [for local residents].”
In response, KCC told Cllr Pender via the report it presented at the meeting: “This is a matter for the elected members to agree upon.”
“Correspondence will issue to the NTA requesting the bus stop, if agreed by the elected members,” KCC added.
