The SEN classroom has been approved for Scoil Bhríde, Leixlip
Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and Kildare North TD, James Lawless, has welcomed the Department of Education's approval of a new special education needs classroom at Scoil Bhríde, Green Lane, Leixlip, Co Kildare.
The project has been approved under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme and involves repurposing works within the existing school to provide one SEN classroom.
It will be delivered under the devolved model, giving the school authority direct responsibility for progressing the works.
Speaking following the announcement, Minister Lawless said: "I'm very pleased to see this approval for Scoil Bhríde in Leixlip. A dedicated special education needs classroom will make a real difference to children in the school who need that support, and to their families.

"Parents across Kildare North have been clear with me about the need for more SEN places closer to home. Approvals like this one are how that capacity is built, community by community.
"I want to acknowledge the work of Department for Education and Youth, and to commend the board of management and staff at Scoil Bhríde for bringing this project forward.
"I look forward to seeing the works progress and to the classroom being in place for the pupils who need it."
