Pensions company warns about elaborate scam
One of Ireland's biggest pension providers has warned of a bogus investment fund trying to scam money.
Irish Life, which has over 1.3m customers, said the fraudsters created a fake prospectus, telephone number and email address.
The company issued an online message to distance itself from the elaborate swindle which it said was circulating "fake Irish Life documentation".
An Irish Life statement said: "We have become aware of a bogus fund prospectus that is in circulation, purporting to be from Irish Life and Irish Life Investment Managers.
"The name of the bogus fund is "Fixed Rate Passive Global Equity Fund".
"This prospectus is not genuine, there is no such fund available nor is one planned.
"In addition you may be contacted by or asked to contact an Irish telephone number 01 568 67 75 or an email address [email protected]. These contact options are not genuine."
Established in 1939, Irish Life is now part of the Great-West Lifeco group of companies, one of the world's leading life assurance organisations.
