Rachel Blackmore and Telmesomething take opening race at Naas after chaotic race

Telmesomethingirl and Rachael Blackmore have combined to win the opening race at Naas. The pair won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares beginners steeplechase for trainer Henry de Bromhead.
Instit and Paul Townend held a narrow lead as the two joint favourites approached the last but a poor last jump from the Willie Mullins trained horse cost them dear as Telmesomethingirl took full advantage of the mistake and won by an eventual six lengths.
The two horses entered the race 5-4 and kept with each other throughout. Instit jumped better throughout the two mile and four furlong distance but the mistake at the last crucial for the mare. Both mares tested the resilience of the Naas fences and undoubtedly their owners' nerves, which produced a chaotic race which is to be expected with beginners mares.
Choice of Words with JJ Slevin on board suffered a bad fall at the mid-way point of the race but thankfully for Kildare trainer Martin Brassil Kildare both horse and rider walked away seemingly unscathed.
