Search for missing woman stood down following discovery of body

The search for a missing woman has ended following the discovery of a body this morning.

Gardaí said this afternoon that the missing person appeal for Sheila Rice, aged 87 years, has been stood down.

Gardaí thanked the media and public for their assistance.

The woman went missing and was last seen near Athy Road in Carlow, shortly before 4pm on Saturday.

A missing person appeal had said that Gardaí and Sheila’s family were concerned for her well-being.
