'Serious risk of electrocution' as a number of circulation pumps found to be faulty

The product safety notice was issued by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission today.
A safety issue regarding electrocution has been found with a number of circulating pumps that have been sold across Ireland.
Four products are affected, some of which were sold as long ago as 2024.
The product safety notice was issued by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission today.
The Trident Digital Display Circulating Pump Model STAR25/6A, AQUAPRO® Domestic Circulating Pump Type CFA25-60-130E, IBO NOVA Domestic Circulating Pump Model NOVA 25-60/130, and AVANSA® AVS Circulating Pump are the items affected.
All of them are used in heating systems and have an issue with the mains electrical coupling, which allows the pump to be connected in reverse.
If done, this can pose a serious risk of electrocution.

"An installed pump can remain in operation, but you must take care not to handle affected pumps as there is a serious risk of electrocution. Consumers that have an affected model of pump installed, and where the unit is working properly, can continue to safely use their heating systems," the CCPC website states.
You may not realise that you have an affected pump, if you’ve had work done on your heating system or have moved house in the last year, you need to check if you have one of these pumps.
All companies have said they can arrange for an inspection of the pumps to take place.
The notice may be subject to change pending more information becoming available.
