'Suspicious' Kildare driver tests positive for drugs

Naas Roads Polcing Unit (NaasRPU) arrested the driver earlier this week
Naas Roads Policing Unit (NaasRPU) became suspicious of a motorist in South Kildare recently and decided to investigate further.
As it transpired, the driver was already serving a total of three active driving disqualifications and had failed to surrender his driving licence.
A roadside drugs test returned positive results for cocaine and opiates. The driver was arrested, charged with a number of offences and will appear before the courts.
The vehicle was also seized.
A garda spokesperson stated: “Three disqualifications, no licence surrendered, positive drugs test and no vehicle going home. That's what you might call a clean sweep — just not the kind anyone should be aiming for.
“Drive legally. Drive responsibly. Or expect to meet us sooner than you think.”
