Tributes as Community Games stalwart in Kildare passes away

Will be laid to rest on Wednesday in Newbridge
The Community Games family in Co Kildare has been saddened by the passing of a stalwart of that organisation, Teresa Harrison, on Monday.
Teresa, of Green Road, Newbridge, was one of the founding members of Newbridge Community Games and dedicated more than fifty years of her life to the organisation she helped establish in 1974.
Inspired by the vision of Bro. Paul Brennan, Teresa joined a small group of volunteers who laid the foundations for what would become one of Newbridge's most successful and enduring community organisations.
Remarkably, she remained actively involved throughout her life, serving with distinction at many levels and most recently as County Chairperson and Treasurer of St. Brigid's Community Games.
Teresa’s remains will repose at her residence on Tuesday from 4pm with prayers at 8pm.
Removal will take place on Wednesday morning at 9.30am to arrive at Cill Mhuire, Ballymany.
Funeral Mass can be viewed online, with burial afterwards in St. Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge.
The family has kindly asked to make to the Irish Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
Over five decades, Teresa witnessed generations of children develop confidence, friendship, sporting ability and community spirit through the Games.
She took immense pride in the achievements of countless young people, from local successes to athletes who went on to represent Ireland on the international stage.
She also cherished the friendships formed through Community Games, believing strongly in its ethos of inclusion, participation and community.
Teresa's contribution extended far beyond administration and organisation.
She was a constant presence, encouraging volunteers, supporting parents and ensuring that children remained at the heart of everything Community Games sought to achieve.
Her dedication helped shape the lives of thousands of young people and contributed enormously to the success of both St. Brigid's and St. Conleth's areas.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, Teresa will be sadly missed by her daughters Pauline and Deirdre, sons-in-law Ger and Matt, grandchildren Nicola, Amanda, Niamh, Pete and Ciara, her great-grandchildren, sister-in-law May, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and many friends.
Teresa's legacy will live on through the generations of children, families and volunteers whose lives she touched.
Her commitment, kindness and unwavering service to her community will be remembered with gratitude and affection for many years to come.
