Well known supermarket entrance is 'an utter and total mess'

People are 'arguing at the site'
The entrance to a well known County Kildare supermarket is “an absolute mess.”
Cllr Bill Clear criticised the Dunnes Stores site in Naas.
He asked, at a Naas Municipal District meeting, if the supermarket company has complied with all conditions relating to the entrance at North Main Street “in particular to traffic and pedestrian access points.”
He said cars entering the car park and coming in front of people and some pedestrians have to walk on the street.
He said arguments are taking place and “you see trucks backing in there off the main street.”
He added: “Dunnes Stores need to do the right thing.”
In January 2022, Kildare County Council said it would assess the location and investigate whether road markings have a role to play.
This followed complaints that pedestrians, including children going to school, are being forced onto the street because vehicles stop at the entrance when the area is busy with traffic.
Cllr Clear said at the time the arrival of Dunnes “has been fantastic for Naas but people are forced onto the street multiple times a day.”
According to Kildare County Council “an unauthorised development file is open on this site in relation to potential non-compliance with conditions of the parent permission.”
