Woman brought to garda station and her car seized in Kildare - after her insurance was wrongly cancelled

Kildare solicitor tells court this was an error
A young woman was placed in a garda car after her motor insurance policy was cancelled in error.
Naas District Court was told that this happened because of an error by the company, Axa.
The driver, who lives in Longford, was stopped by gardaí in the area of the M4 at Moneycooley, Maynooth, on July 5, 2024.
Defending solicitor David Powderly said her car was seized, she was placed in a garda car in public and she was brought to a garda station.
Mr Powderly also told the court that a letter was issued later that day by the company acknowledging that the woman was fully covered and the policy was reinstated.
He also said the woman had “paid a fortune" for insurance cover.
The allegation was withdrawn and Judge Desmond Zaidan told the woman "you did nothing wrong.”
