Work progresses on Kildare's DART+ West project

Fianna Fáil Minister James Lawless has welcomed progress on the project
Fianna Fáil TD for Kildare North and Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, has welcomed the start of the first major physical enabling works on DART+ West.
Deputy Lawless joined the Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien TD, at Dunboyne Train Station to mark the commencement of the works.
Speaking after the event, Minister Lawless said: “I was delighted to join Minister O’Brien at Dunboyne to mark the start of works on DART+ West. This is a landmark moment for Kildare North, and a clear demonstration of the Government’s commitment to delivering modern, sustainable public transport for our growing communities.
“DART+ West will transform rail travel for North Kildare, with a DART service at least every ten minutes and more than double the capacity on the line. It will make it easier for people to get to work, to college and into the city, and it will support the continued growth of North Kildare as a place to live, study and do business.
“I want to commend Minister O’Brien, Iarnród Éireann and the National Transport Authority on bringing the project to this stage. DART+ West is the foundation for the wider DART+ programme, which for Kildare North includes the extension to Kilcock, subject to planning, and DART+ South West to Hazelhatch for Celbridge. I look forward to seeing the project progress and to the benefits it will bring right across the constituency.”
