Clane native Mikey O'Siochru was last night honoured at the Water Safety Ireland Awards. The award ceremony booklet detailed the TUD students contribution and the reason for he received the Seiko 'Just in Time Award' from Water Safety Ireland.
The booklet stated, "Last August Mikey had just come off duty as a Lifeguard in Sandycove, Dublin when he was alerted to a woman in distress in the water. A seal was attacking the woman, Mikey entered the water with a floatation device - managed to wrestle the seal away and brought the injured woman to safety where she received medical assistance for her wounds. The woman made a full recovery."
The former Scoil Mhuire Clane student is continuing his lifeguard work at K-Leisure at the weekends while he continues his studies in Dublin.
