Alleged sexual assault took place on Valentine's Day in County Kildare

REPORT DUE
A man faces an accusation of sexually assaulting a woman in County Kildare on Valentine’s Day (February 14 last).
The case, which was heard in-camera (in private), appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, February 22 last.
The accused appeared via video-link as he is currently remanded in custody.
Gardaí alleged that on Valentine’s Day, the man walked up to a woman and proceeded to 'rub up' against her.
It was also alleged that he tried to kiss her.
Commenting on the case, Judge Zaidan said: "I don’t want to compromise anyone, but I think that this man has issues, and I’ll leave it at that."
He adjourned the case to a date in March to allow time for a psychiatric assessment to be conducted on the man, in order to determine if he is mentally fit to stand trial.
The judge also adjourned the case to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
