Anger in Kildare over E scooter users travelling at up to 80 km/h

Some have no helmets and don't wear high vis gear
Action must be taken against the reckless driving of e scooters in towns and villages across Kildare.
Independent councillor Tom McDonnell said the scooter owners “have become a menace” on footpaths and the number of accidents as well as injuries and deaths caused by them is continuing to rise.
At a Kildare County Council meeting, he called on KCC to contact the Minister for Transport to review enforcement and implementation of the road traffic regulations “specifically related to electric scooters with a view to protecting all road users.”
He said relevant bodies like An Garda Síochána and the Road Transport Authority need to get involved.
He said many users don’t wear helmets or high vis clothing. He claimed some travel at speeds of up to 70-80 km/h.
