Accused appeared before Central Criminal Court this morning.

A 38-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a Slovakian native last year.

Damian Szatkowski of Peachville, Kilshane, Dublin 11 appeared before the Central Criminal Court this morning.

He was arraigned on a charge that he unlawfully killed Marcel Kusenda (47) in Newbridge, Co Kildare on or about 8 March, 2023.

Garret Baker SC for the Director of Public Prosecutions said the plea is accepted.

He said the victim's son lives in Slovakia and would like to make a statement to the court ahead of sentencing.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott adjourned the matter to December 9 and ordered a governor's report from the Midlands Prison, where Szatkowski is in custody.
