BREAKING: Planned meeting over stalled Kildare shopping centre could lead to breakthrough

A meeting has been arranged between Kildare County Council planners and the Naas Shopping Centre developers which would lead to works being approved at the entrance to the building off the main street.
It is understood that progress has been made after the developer the Roche Group ran into opposition over a proposal for an entrance at the Bank of Ireland premises - because the bank building is a protected structure.
The proposal will now be discussed at a meeting likely to take place this week.
Local councillor Bill Clear said that there is a need “to knock heads together”.
Describing the NSC, which was due to open in 2009 as “a big derelict site” he said he is approached everywhere he goes in Naas by people keen to know when some progress will be made towards an opening.
“They need to start developing it. At the rate we’re going there will be another recession before it opens (a reference to the previous crash which halted the original opening plans),” he said at a Naas Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Clear said that there is an immediate need for parking spaces in the town that the centre could provide.
