BREAKING: Plans for major electricity substation expansion in Kildare
Plans lodged with Kildare County Council
A planning application has been submitted to Kildare County Council by EirGrid Plc for an expanded electricity substation near Maynooth.
The construction value of works being proposed at the Maynooth Substation, Taghadoe is over €4m, according to the Construction Information Services database.
Being planned is the construction of a new gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) buildings, power transformers, interface towers.
The designs include new lightning masts, cable connections, an internal access road and 10 car parking spaces.
Also planned is the demolition of an existing bungalow farmhouse and agricultural buildings to facilitate the proposed development.
Planning permission is sought for a period of 10 years.
A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Council with the application.
