'Broadway & Beyond' - songs of stage and screen - Saturday, June 30 at St David's, Naas.

On Saturday next, June 30 , St David’s Church in Naas will be filled with the music of stage and screen when the Owen C Lynch Vocal Ensemble & Orchestra present their summer concert, Broadway & Beyond.

The ensemble’s annual Christmas concert ‘O Holy Night’ at St. Conleth’s Church in Newbridge has become a hugely important yearly event for many attracting crowds of music lovers yearly. The choir have a very exciting program of music planned and musical director Owen C Lynch assures us there is something for everyone in this concert. On the night, the ensemble’s exciting program will include selections from Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Chess, Sweet Charity, Fiddler on the Roof as well as some of the great hits of Billy Joel, Matt Monroe, Andy Williams & Coldplay. The choir will also perform an exciting James Bond Medley and the audience will get a chance to raise the roof of St. David’s and sing along to a nostalgic Very Lynn medley of songs remembering World War II.

Joining the choir and orchestra on the night is special guest tenor Dave Maguire whose wonderful voice is no stranger to Kildare audiences. A regular soloist at O Holy Night in Newbridge, many will also remember Dave’s stirring rendition of Banna Strand at Mona Conroy’s recent concert ‘Mise Eire -1916 Remembered’

Owen stated: "Rehearsals are in full swing for the choir. We have 45 members and I must say they are sounding fabulous! I am busy putting the finishing touches to my orchestrations for an excellent band of musicians so it’s all go and very exciting. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rev Philip Heeks for allowing us once again to make music in the beautiful surroundings of St. David’s Church. St. David’s is such a beautiful space and we look forward once again to performing there".

Broadway & Beyond takes place at St David’s Church, Naas on Saturday, 30 June at 8pm. Tickets are €25 and are available from Veronica at 087 794 0850. Early booking for this intimate evening is strongly advised.
