Issue raised with Kildare Co Council

A man let two bulldogs out of a car to defecate in a public park, it was claimed at a Naas Municipal District meeting.

Local councillor Bill Clear said when he approached the man, he was told to “f*ck off!”

He said he reported the matter to the gardaí.

Cllr Clear has asked Kildare County Council to install signs identifying restricted breeds of dogs in all parks in the Naas area.

He said these should outline “the obligations for owners who are bringing these dogs to our parks and in some cases letting them off the lead in the area.”

According to Kildare County Council, signs relating to restricted breeds will be erected in the park.

Cllr Clear previously said that some dog owners are allowing their animals off the lead when they visit the popular amenity.

He said Monread Park has great potential for the community but claimed that this is being threatened by some dog owners.
