Council asked to remove abandoned cars from Clane estate

Kildare County Council has been requested to remove the abandoned cars from the Meadow Court estate in Clane.

Cllr Daragh Fitzpatrick of Fianna Fail plans to raise the issue at the next meeting of Maynooth Municipal District in Naas on July 12.

Kildare Co Council has previously vowed to clamp down on old vehicles abandoned in housing estates.

The Council said that the Environment Section investigates all reports of abandoned vehicles in residential areas.

Where the owner can be contacted, written notification is given requesting that the vehicle be removed within a specified period.

If the owner is unknown, a notice is placed on the vehicle with a specified period for removal indicated.

The owner is liable for any costs incurred by the council in the removing of such vehicles.
