Council to erect semi-permanent flooding signs near Athy

Kildare Co Council is to erect poles for flooding signs in a flood-prone area.
The Athy to Carlow Road (R417) at Maganey was impassable last month and was closed to traffic.
Cllr Aoife Breslin of the Labour Party asked that signage be used in the area to warn road users.
A Council spokesman said; "The Municipal District Office intends to erect permanent poles on both approaches to the flooded section of road at Maganey.
"Signs can then be erected on these poles when the road floods."
