A woman claimed that she received a death threat from her ex-partner while in a County Kildare church.

The woman appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, January 25, for an interim protection order application.

The court session was held in-camera (in private).

She told the judge that she has children with the man, and that while they had previously been together for over a decade, they are no longer a couple.

The woman alleged that he told her in a church: "I'm going to finish you off... watch me" and also: "I will finish you for good."

She became emotional as she described how her ex-partner had allegedly been 'physically, verbally, mentally and sexually abusive' towards her during their relationship.

Judge Zaidan decided to grant her an interim protection order until the case resumes at a later date.

He also told the woman that the order will cover her children, as well as her, and advised the woman that if she has any immediate concerns for her safety, to go to her nearest garda station.
