A Wexford man who won a life-changing €1 million top prize on the National Lottery Christmas Millionaire Raffle has claimed his prize at National Lottery HQ in Dublin.

A woman from Co. Kerry also claimed €100,000 won on the Millionaire Raffle.

The newly-made millionaire from Co. Wexford revealed that he announced his €1,000,000 win to his wife before midnight on New Year’s Eve by reaching out his hand and saying: “Do you want to shake hands with a millionaire?”

This cool, calm and very collected customer claimed his cheque million earlier today in the National Lottery Winner’s Room in the presence of his wife and loving family.

He who also claimed to have a good feeling about his ticket number (191401), spoke about the moment he found out his ticket was the winning one.

He said: “From the moment I bought the ticket in early December I saw the first three digits were 191 – like a new car registration would have and I thought I’ll have a winner on this.

"At about 11pm on New Year’s Eve I checked the number and the second I saw the winning number I knew it was me.

"After double checking I ran downstairs to my wife and just said ‘Do you want to shake hands with a millionaire?’

"Even though I am thrilled and so thankful to have won, the win hasn’t really phased me at all yet – maybe it hasn’t fully sunk in yet and I might be different when I see all those zeroes added on to my bank balance”.

This golden ticket was sold at Kavanagh’s Village Forecourt, in Clonroche, Co. Wexford.

The Wexford man said he will wait for the good news to sink in before he decides what to do with his newfound windfall. However he did say that he will look after his family and help out his children with their mortgages.

Also another Millionaire Raffle winner from Co. Kerry also claimed their top tier prize of €100,000 this afternoon. This shocked Kerry woman admitted that she completely forget she had bought a ticket for the Raffle and only found out about her win yesterday.

She said: “I was at home with my parents when my mum was putting her Millionaire Raffle ticket in the bin, saying that she won nothing. It just dawned on me then that I had a ticket too. I rushed upstairs to where the ticket was sitting for the past week and checked it online. I couldn’t believe it. I just thought something isn’t right here. It can’t be me!”

The woman also revealed that she will take a whole to process the win before deciding what to do with her €100,000. She bought her winning raffle ticket (number 52944) at Garvey’s Supervalu in Listowel, Co. Kerry.
