DPP directions ready in suspected Kildare murder case

CASE UPDATE
Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) are officially ready in a suspected Naas murder case.
The murder accusation relates to Pádraig Delaney, with an address listed as 6 The Lane, Eustace Demesne in Naas.
The 44-year-old stands accused of murdering 37-year-old Shane Knott between April 3 to April 14 last, at his home address.
Over the last two months in Naas District Court, his defending solicitor, Tim Kennelly, was critical of delays in the case with regards to DPP directions.
On the latest court date (Thursday, July 18 last), Garda Sergeant David Hanrahan said that DPP directions were ready in the case, and that the DPP indicated a trial on indictment at the Central Criminal Court.
Substitute judge Nicola-Jane Andrews adjourned the case involving the accused to August 8, to allow time for a book of evidence to be served on Mr Delaney.
Judge Andrews remanded Mr Delaney on continuing bail until the case resumes.
