The ESB has come under fire over the year long delay in withdrawing the power supply from an estate.

Cllr Fintan Brett, who's also the council chariman, said this is necessary to facilitate the removal of overhanging trees at  River Lawns in Kill.

According to Kildare County Council an application for a power output was made 12 months ago and “to date we have not had an indication of when this can be done despite contacting them on several occasions since the initial application.”

“They have to be placed in locations  that are suitable - not in the middle of the countryside,” said local councillor and Kildare County Council chairman Fintan Brett.placeholder image

“Somebody in government needs to take them in hand,” he told a Naas Municipal District meeting.

Recently ESB Networks was criticised by another councillor for failing to connect new homes to the electricity grid in time.

Naas Mayor Evie Sammon asked  KCC  to write to the company seeking information.

Cllr Sammon said a group of residents had been waiting since last September to have homes connected and this has forced them to “live hours away from their homes.”
