Fantastic opportunity for young Kildare writers
Creative writing summer camp for children aged 7-13 years
Kildare based author Emma-Jane Leeson will return to Riverbank Arts Centre this July to host a Creative Writing Summer Camp for Young Authors aged 7-13 years.
Participants can expect a fun, engaging and supportive environment to imagine and explore different techniques and styles.
With lots of fun exercises and modules, this camp will help young writers hone into their unique writing voice and empower them to continue writing into the future.
EJ (Emma-Jane) was the 2022 Kildare Library Reader in Residence and author of the highly popular Johnny Magory book series.
She was also listed as one of The Irish Times Bestselling Authors with her book ‘I Am Brigid’. She is currently working on animating the world of Johnny Magory with funding from Screen Ireland.
Reflecting on the success of the previous creative writing summer camp in 2023 EJ states: “I’m excited to be hosting a week-long summer camp for aspiring young authors in Riverbank again this summer.
“Last year’s camp was such a rewarding experience for me personally, helping the young writers find their voice and explore different aspects of writing with lots of laughs along the way. Following on from my residency with Kildare Libraries as their Children’s Creative Writer, I will be bringing more skills to help ignite the imaginations of the attendees and build their confidence and self-esteem. It’s always so much fun, I can’t wait!”
