Farm on Kildare border will sell 10,000 Xmas trees in the next 6 weeks

Rathcon Farm on the Kildare/Wicklow border is gearing up to sell 10,000 Christmas trees between now and December 24.
The bulk of the trees will go to garden centres around Ireland with the rest exported to the UK.
The entire Christmas tree industry is worth billions of euro annually in Ireland with about 350,000 trees sold each year.
Rathcon Farm has been in the Page family for many generations.
Sheep and tillage were always the mainstay but since 1990 the farm has diversified into Christmas trees, willow for biofuels and the rainbow trout lake.
Other activities include fishing and clay shooting as well as air rifle, archery, laser skirmishing and adventure courses.
