Four three-month custodial sentences (totalling 12 months in custody) were imposed on a Naas man.

John Connors, with an address listed as 94 Hazelmere in Naas, but who is currently remanded in custody, was convicted for a number of offences by Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, October 26 last,

Gardaí told the judge that on August 2, 2022, the 39-year-old was spotted banging on doors and crossing between rooftops in Hazelmere while he was intoxicated.

This incident amounted to him being charged with three counts of trespass and one count of public disorder.

He refused to come down for gardaí and when he was eventually brought down, he was aggressive towards them, and had to be restrained.

Mr Connors was also prosecuted for a public order incident at Tougher’s Restaurant, located between Newbridge and Naas, on Apirl 7 last.

A probation report was handed in to Judge Desmond Zaidan by defending barrister Mark Gibbons, who insisted that his client struggled with an addiction to alcohol, but is now sober.

Mr Gibbons also said that his client was 'very remorseful' for his actions.

The court was told that he has 60 previous convictions, 48 of which are for road traffic offences, and two for trespassing offences committed on building sites. After reading the probation report, Judge Zaidan said that while it contained 'some positive features’, it also noted that Mr Connors was ‘at a high risk of re-offending.'

The judge decided to impose three-months for all three of the trespassing offences, and took the public order offence into consideration.

He imposed a further three months for the second public order incident.

The judge set appeal at €500.
