Historic Kildare castle could become a tourist attraction

Kildare County Council is finalising the purchase of the building
The historic St. David’s Castle in Naas could become a tourist attraction - similar to other ancient castles around Ireland.
Cllr Anen Breen made the suggestion at a Naas Municipal District committee meeting.
Kildare County Council responded that it is in the process of buying the property and its future is likely to be tied in with a master plan which will be developed by KCC for Naas.
According to historians the castle is very much part of the town's history dating back to the original building in the time of King John of England when two parliaments were held there.
It was a central feature during the 13th and 14th centuries as a Norman stronghold.
