Huge crowds turn out as Adam Burke leads team over the finish line ahead of brilliant panel event

Huge crowds turned up to Two Mile House GAA club yesterday as the GAA community united behind 21-year-old Adam Burke to support the young footballer in his recovery from a stroke.
Adam, who scored two goals in an All-Ireland Junior final to help Two Mile House win the title in 2013, suffered a stroke in July of last year and was given a 20 per cent chance of survival by medical professionals. Anyone who has seen Adam over the last 12 months will have noticed the progress that he has made in his recovery, and it culminated in the heartwarming scenes at the end of a five kilometre run that he completed at a fundraising event to help his recovery.
Adam was joined by his Two Mile House teammates and led them over the line at the end to a rapturous applause.

The run kicked off a brilliant evening of excitement at the club as numerous stars from the GAA world turned out to lend their support for the event.
Among them were Marty Morrissey, who MC'd a panel discussion, Michael Duignan, Davy Fitzgerald, Tomás Ó'Sé, Joe Brolly and Johnny Doyle, while All-Ireland winning Dublin midfielder Brian Fenton showed up at the club with the Sam Maguire trophy to meet Adam a year on from first encountering him in Beaumont Hospital.

A huge crowd flocked into the marquee that was set up by members of the club to facilitate the event and a great night was had by all.
The aim of the event is to help raise money to pay for speech and occupational therapy that will help Adam in his fight to get back to full health. The aim is to raise €1 million, and people can still donate by using the GoFundMe page that has been set up.
