Hundreds of Kildare people heading to Galway Races this week
Ireland's biggest and most famous racing festival kicks off today.
There are 49 races going to post and the total Prize money on offer is in excess of €2 million.
The stand-out race is the famous Galway Plate, a race so central to the history of Galway races.
It takes place on Wednesday and will attract the most public interest and betting.
Galway Festival Ladies Day is on the fourth day of the Festival and it is one of the most colourful.
Gates open at 3pm today and the first race goes to post at 5.1opm.
There will be ample car parking facilities available in the vicinity of the racecourse.
There will be a shuttle bus service operating every day of the races between Eyre Square (Outside the Skeff Bar) and the racecourse.
It will start running from approximately 2 hours before the first race.
Return services will start bringing people back into the city from after the second-last race each day.
