Congregation told Micheál Spike Nolan had a passion for community service, politics and helping others
Hundreds of mourners bid farewell to former Mayor of Kildare Micheál Spike Nolan in Newbridge today.

A large congregation packed into St Conleth’s Parish Church for the Requiem Mass and was told that Mr Nolan had a passion for community service, politics and helping others.
Mr Nolan was laid to rest afterwards in St. Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge.
The Taoiseach was represented by his Aide de Camp, Commandant Claire Mortimer.
Mr Nolan's son Tadhg told mourners that his dad was a hero, a role model and a best friend to him.
He added: "My dad was a very strong person. He never gave up, no matter what."
He also spoke about his love for Sarsfields GAA Club and his support for Coventry football club.
He added that his dad's passion for community service, politics and helping others came directly from his grandmother Ursula.
Tadhg also revealed that Mr Nolan had brought his young brother Jack for a driving lesson just days before he passed away.
He thanked everybody for their love and support which he said had been a great comfort to the family.
He concluded by addressing his dad: "You may be gone, but our memories and our love for you will go on forever."
