The Moat Club, which has been in existence since 1954, held its opening night of its 41st pantomime, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, last Friday, November 24.

Many generations of Naas people have enjoyed the experience of going to the Moat Club panto, Naas’s longest-running pantomime.

Goldilocks has been written and directed by club stalwart Eugene Delaney.

The cast is full of familiar faces, which some of those generations of audiences will recognise including Anne Delaney (Mammy Bear), Sarah Gallagher (Baby Bear), Padraig Broe (Festy), Pat Breslin (Patchy), Michael Broe (Gary Greedyguts) and Maire Murphy (Shifty Sharon). Goldilocks is Sarah Cusack.

When Goldilocks stumbles into the home of the three bears she finds tasty porridge, comfortable chairs and a bed that is just right. But she discovers a lot more.

Gary Greedyguts and his right-hand woman Shifty Sharon are set on destroying the forest to make way for their factory, putting the woodland home of the three bears in jeopardy. Freddy Fool and Dumbo Danny are hired to deal with the ‘bear problem’.

On the side of good are Festy and Patchy, the self-employed woodcutters, back by popular demand from last year’s panto, and Marty the Mushroom Forager. But can they save the forest and help little lost Goldilocks get back to her loving mother?

Many dates are sold out but there is a limited number of tickets available on Thursday 30 November and Thursday 7 December.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Eugene Delaney runs at the Moat Theatre on selected dates until Saturday 9 December.

Tickets cost €18 each, family of four €65 from www.moattheatre.com or 045 883030.
