Kildare animal sanctuary makes urgent appeal for volunteers this Christmas

By Kim O'Leary
With Christmas literally around the corner and Kildare people busily getting through their shopping ahead of the festivities, it can be easy to overlook those in need this year particularly the animals found sick, injured and abandoned in Kildare.
Luckily the organisation Littlehill Rescue and Sanctuary is working to help look after injured, sick and abandoned animals including cats, dogs, hens, and horses this Christmas, but they are now looking for new volunteers to help during the Christmas starting this week Wednesday 20 December until Monday 5 January 2, 2018.

Speaking to KildareNow, founder and volunteer Susan Anderson has said that they urgently need more volunteers to help out during what is set to be one of the busiest times of year for the organisation, which currently houses over 200 animals.
She said: "Please contact us asap if you can help and if anyone needs it, accommodation is offered with ALL meals and a yummy veggie Christmas Dinner too."
LittleHill Rescue and Sanctuary is based in Ballymore Eustace, Co Kildare, and the organisation aims to rescue and re-home abandoned, abused and neglected dogs, cats and horses. The odd turkey, duck, and pigeon has also been rehabilitated at various stages of its existence! Recently, several hundred ex-battery hens have been rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed.
This charity is funded entirely by donations with the assistance of its patron Pauline McGlynn aka Mrs Doyle of Fr Ted fame, and by the resources of its founder, Susan Anderson, who has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to make the world a better place for animals.
