Fears are growing for missing dad-of-one Barry Corcoran after a dismembered body was found stuffed in a suitcase in a Co Kildare canal.

Walkers made the grisly discovery at the Grand Canal at Ardclough at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Mr Corcoran (38) was last seen in Ballyfermot on July 6 and gardai later searched an area near where the body was found.

The remains found yesterday, believed to be male, will be analysed by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis on Sunday and DNA samples will be taken.

They will be matched against a number of other samples in order to verify the identity.
