Kildare car crash victim lay undiscovered for up to 12 hours

A teenager whose car left the road and landed in a ditch lay undiscovered for up to 12 hours.

The car driven by an 18-year old was discovered at Kishawanny, Carbury at around 2.15pm yesterday.

A garda spokesman said the car was located in a drain and emergency services were called. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the sole occupant of the car and his remains have been removed to the Naas General Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place.

The R402 Road between Edenderry Golf Club and Carbury was closed for most of Sunday but reopened yesterday evening.

Gardai are appealing for information in relation to the fatal collision.

The garda spokesman issued an appeal to anybody travelling that road overnight and up till 2.15pm yesterday afternoon.
