Kildare cottage on 25 acres sold at auction for over €1m

Two bidders battled it out before the hammer fell at €1,015,000
The auction of Sunnyhill took place on Friday, March 22 before a packed room at the Kilashee Hotel in Naas.
The sale was jointly handled by Jordan Auctioneers and Leinster Marts.
There had been huge interest in the property from the outset with all the lots appealing to different purchaser profiles.
John Osborne of Leinster Marts offered each lot initially with very strong figures being obtained, but there was also interest in Lot 4, which was the combination of lots 1-3 comprising a bungalow and cottage on 21 acres.
With the way the bidding was developing it was apparent that the combined was making more than the lots so a decision was made to sell in this format.
Two bidders battled the sale out before the hammer fell at €1,015,000 to a local based farmer.
Paddy Jordan of Jordan Auctioneers offered Lot 5 which comprised four acres and which sold for €180,000 to another local based buyer with several underbidders.
The property was in an excellent location just 2km from Kilcullen and close to Newbridge (eight km), Naas (15km) and The Curragh (six km).
The land was described as top quality and the presence of the two houses, although in need of work, did present an opportunity for purchasers to either renovate or perhaps replace them.
