Kildare judge refuses jurisdiction over juvenile case

IN-CAMERA
A Naas District Court judge refused jurisdiction over a case involving a juvenile on September 7 last.
During the in-camera (in private) court session, the court was told by a garda who took to the stand that the teenager was involved in an incident of with a gang made up of other youths (these youths were not identified on the date in question) where they stole a sum of money from a vehicle in County Kildare and later stole a separate vehicle.
It was heard that the car was later found abandoned.
When the garda began to detail a second offence, Judge Zaidan interjected by saying that he would refuse jurisdiction due to the serious nature of the accusations.
The case will resume on a date in October, which is when a book of evidence is due to be served on the accused.
