Kildare ladies manager Diane O'Hora reacts to her side's win over Down

Kildare ladies beat Down 3-13 to 0-6 in their Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 3 campaign opener. Kildare manager Diane O'Hora spoek to the Leinster Leader on the St Conelth's Park pitch after the win, “I thought that the girls were probably a bit nervous at the start but as they developed, especially coming into the second half they really managed themselves and developed their own style of play. They managed the game very very well.”
The game management throughout from Kildare was evident for all to see, they sat off early on in the game and pushed high to punish when Down were under pressure. Added to that the much more controlled possession in the second half to control the flow of the game, Kildare looked like a team with serious game management and nous.
That new found skill is no coincidence and the Kildare boss says her and her coaching staff have been preparing their side in this exact manner.
“It’s something I have been saying for the last couple of weeks, with the work that has been done by Brian Noonan, Con Brennan and Noelle Early as well as strength and conditioning, they (the team) are in a really good place to develop their football.
“We’re trying to help them guide themselves a bit more so if they get into some difficult patches they will be able to manage themselves out of it.”
O’Hora concluded about the performance, “It’s hugely positive…I am so proud of the girls, it’s the start that they wanted and the start that they needed.”
