A man who is accused of causing damage to a care home is being prosecuted at Naas District Court.

Solicitor David Powderly said the man is a ward of court - a person who the courts decided was not able to look after their own affairs.

It is being alleged he caused €250 worth of damage to the premises.

Mr Powderly said the man was in care until he reached 18 years of age.

“There are behavioural issues,” he added.

The court was told that the man’s parents live in the south of the country.

The defendant told Judge Desmond Zaidan he was 16 when he went into court.

The defendant was remanded on continuing bail for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions by the judge to December 5.
