DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

A County Kildare man was granted an interim protection order by a Naas District Court judge.

The man applied for the order during an in-camera (in private) court session on Thursday, January 25 last.

He told Judge Desmond Zaidan that his ex-wife had been physically abusive towards him, and had also tried to block him from leaving their home.

The man added that she once told him: "You're dead."

In addition, he alleged that the woman told the gardaí that he was going to kidnap their children, and had taken out a protection order against him.

The man further alleged that she claimed that he breached the order she took out against him, but he denied ever breaching the order.

Judge Zaidan agreed to grant the man an interim protection order until the case resumes on a date in July for hearing.
