Kildare motorist more than six times over legal alcohol limit

The driver now faces a court appearance
Naas Roads Policing Unit were conducting a mandatory intoxicant checkpoint in Kildare when one motorist decided to attempt to evade detection.
Instead, they turned into a closed garage forecourt.
Under surveillance, a short time later, the same driver reappeared and attempted to evade gardai a second time.
The driver was apprehended, and it was soon determined by gardai that they were more than six times over the legal alcohol limit.
Also, to compound the matter, the driver had no valid insurance.
The driver was charged and now faces a court appearance.
A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “There is no clever workaround for drink driving. No shortcut. No story that undoes the risk posed to every other person on the road.
“The vehicle has been seized. The driver will answer for their actions in court.
“If your plan involves avoiding Gardaí rather than complying with the law, it’s already a bad plan.”
