KILDARE: New isolation unit to open shortly at Naas Hospital

A new 12 bed isolation ward is almost completed at Naas General Hospital.
And according to the HSE the ward, used by patients with specific conditions who are to be accommodated separately from others, is due to be handed over for use before the end of the month.
This is one of three building projects underway at Naas.
The provision of a second endoscopy room, which will facilitate internal examinations to test for a variety of illnesses, has also been approved.
In a letter to Kildare North TD Bernard Durkan, the HSE said that this has been acknowledged as a priority for the facility.
General manager Niamh Barrett said that the process to appoint a design team is underway to update the design and to progress through the pre-tender design and planning stages of work this year.
Meanwhile an acute medical assessment unit is also to be provided.
This 11 bed unit is “presently at the appraisal stage and will be initiated through design and planning stages in 2023.”
