KILDARE: Parked cars are being damaged by passing vehicles on main street

Cars parked on the main street in Clane are being struck and damaged by passing vehicles.
Cllr Padraig McEvoy told a Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting that traders in the town have said customers are complaining about the incidents.
He said the council should reallocate road space in the Ballinagappa Road approaching the main street “to improve sustainable travel by replacing five in-line parking spaces with double yellow lines.”
He added: “There is a demand for this to be done." He said there are no parking spaces at the location but he said there are nevertheless over 1,000 parking spaces in Clane.
Elsewhere in the town, Cllr McEvoy said signs are needed to alert drivers on Butterstream Lane to take account of walkers between Nancy's Lane and Prosperous Road.
